NBC has announced the cancellation of a prime-time show. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the network canceled the competition series "Fashion Star" after two seasons on the network.

NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt confirmed the show’s cancellation at the Television Critics Association tour.

The reality competition, which showed fashion designers competing to have their clothing sold in stores such as Saks and Macy’s, had shifted to Friday nights for its second season, the story reports. It also was revamped, with Louise Roe brought in to host, replacing executive producer Elle Macpherson, the piece notes.

But the May 10 finale drew a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic, a substantial drop from the first-season finale’s rating of 1.6. The show’s first season aired on Tuesday nights.

"With the exception of ‘The Voice,’ NBC has struggled to find a breakout hit in the unscripted arena in recent years," the story points out.
