Silda Spitzer, the wife of former CNN and Current TV host Eliot Spitzer, is saying privately that she plans to divorce her husband after his run for New York City comptroller, reports the New York Post’s Page Six.

Silda Spitzer, described in the report as Eliot Spitzer’s long-suffering wife, has reportedly told her female friends that she’s had enough and will file for divorce after the Nov. 5 election, the story says. Eliot Spitzer, the former governor of New York, left office amid a prostitution scandal.

The couple are also reportedly living apart, in two different homes on New York’s Fifth Avenue, the story adds.

His representative said the pair are "still a couple," but Eliot Spitzer has said that he and his wife won’t be seen together during the campaign. "I think it’s fair to say I’m running for office. No other member of my family is running for office. And I think the public is going to judge me, not who else is with me or not with me. She’s got a career. There are other things I think the public appreciates — I’m out here fighting every day for them," Spitzer said at a campaign stop.

A spokeswoman for Eliot Spitzer said: "We will not comment on the absurd barrage of stories about his personal life.”
