A performer who was a teen idol in the early 1970s was arrested early today — and it’s not the first time. CNN reports that David Cassidy, who starred in the TV series "The Partridge Family," faces a drunken driving charge after his arrest today in Schodack, N.Y.

"Cassidy, 63, was given breath and field sobriety tests after he failed to dim his car’s headlights at a police checkpoint, according to the police report," CNN reports. "He was arrested when he blew a .10 in the breathalyzer device, the report said. The legal blood alcohol limit is .08."

Cassidy was reportedly released on $2,500 bail, with a court date set for Sept. 6.

"Cassidy, who lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, entered a no contest plea as a first-time offender in February 2011 to a drunken driving charge that followed a November 2010 arrest in Florida," the story reports. "He was sentenced to a year’s probation and his driver’s license was suspended for six months for that conviction. He also attended a DUI school, paid a $500 fine and served 50 hours of community service."

A career highlight for Cassidy was the 1970 Partridge Family hit "I Think I Love You." He went on to a solo singing career after the TV show wrapped in 1974, and continues to perform. He was seen recently playing an aging former teenage idol on the ABC Family series "Ruby & the Rockits."
