ABC has bought a comedy from a producer that is off to a hot start this development season, The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports.

The producer is Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland. Rhimes has an overall deal with ABC Studios.

The network ordered the untitled project from "Cougar Town" co-executive producers Christine Pietrosh and Jessica Goldstein, marking the third sale by Shondaland for 2014-15.

The project is about a group of friends who come together after an unexpected event. Pietrosh and Goldstein will write and executive produce, while Shonda Rhimes and her Shondaland partner Betsy Beers will also executive produce.

The sale is Shondaland’s first of the season for a comedy project, following orders for a cop drama from Rhimes and Beers with Dana Calvo ("Made in Jersey") and a legal drama, "Lawless," with K.J. Steinberg ("Gilded Lilys").

THR adds: "The Pietrosh/Goldstein entry marks Shondaland’s second attempt at a comedy, which remains a priority at the company behind dramas ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ ‘Scandal’ and the recently concluded ‘Private Practice.’ Last year, Rhimes and Beers teamed with writer Issa Rae for a comedy called ‘I Hate L.A. Dudes,’ which did not move forward at the network."
