CBS Puts Numbers to Ratings Impact From Time Warner Cable Blackout

CBS talked about the financial impact and ratings impact of the Time Warner Cable blackout, which has cut access to the broadcast network for many customers in major markets. According to CBS, the impact has been minimal.

The network says it is down only .2% in viewers and has seen no change in the 18-49 demographic since the blackout went into effect, reports EW.com’s Inside TV.

Time Warner Cable pulled the network Aug. 2.

"Compared to the same week last summer, CBS’s Friday-Thursday prime-time programs during the blackout are actually up 38% in viewers and 33% in both adults 18-49 and 25-54, according to Nielsen results," the story notes.

The report adds: "CBS says the overall financial hit to the net is negligible — for now — since August is typically a low-rated month anyway."

  1. Of course they’re going to be up over last summer when they were up against the Olympics.
