‘Game of Thrones’ Actress Adopts Her Direwolf

Sophie Turner, who was 13 when she was cast as Sansa on HBO’s "Game of Thrones," adopted the dog who portrayed her direwolf — a large, fearsome wolf — on the show, according to a report in the U.K.’s Coventry Telegraph.

"Growing up I always wanted a dog, but my parents never wanted one. We kind of fell in love with my character’s direwolf, Lady, on set," Turner, now 17, tells the publication.

Because the direwolf dies in the show, the production wanted to find a new home for the animal that played her, she added. Turner and her family adopted the dog after production of "Thrones" wrapped following season one.

"My mum persuaded them to let us adopt her," she says. The dog, called Zunni, is a Northern Inuit dog, according to the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker.
