High-Profile Former Judge Closing in on Deal to Return to 'American Idol' EW
Fox's "American Idol" is close to a deal with one of its former judges for a return gig. EW.com's Inside TV reports that the show is closing in on a pact that would bring superstar singer Jennifer Lopez back to the show.
"At this point, Lopez’s deal is not signed -- but it could be ready in as little as a few days. Lopez was an 'Idol' judge during the 2011 and 2012 seasons of 'American Idol' and was reportedly courted during the 2013 season as a possible replacement for judge Mariah Carey," the story notes.
The third judge remains up in the air, with reports that Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am is still in talks. Harry Connick Jr. is likely no longer under consideration, while former "Idol" contestant Jennifer Hudson also no longer appears to be a contender, the story adds.
It's likely that the next season of "Idol" will have three judges, rather than the four it has had in recent seasons, the piece notes.
