A movie that was a monster hit at the box office in the 1980s is in development to become a television show. EW.com’s Inside TV reports that Entertainment One (eOne) is working with Nu Image on an adaptation of "Rambo."

Star Sylvester Stallone is in talks to be involved in the project creatively as well as potentially to revive his role as the title character, the story says. A representative for the actor didn’t immediately get back to EW with comment, the report notes.

The 1985 movie "Rambo: First Blood Part II," the most successful film in the "Rambo" series, took in about $300 million in worldwide box office receipts. It was a sequel to the 1982 movie "First Blood," which is also sometimes called "Rambo." Made on a budget of about $14 million, "First Blood" reportedly grossed $125 million worldwide.

The franchise has spawned video games, an animated 1986 TV series and four feature films so far.

"’Rambo’ fans cover all demographics and we’re confident that we’ll quickly find this series a home," John Morayniss, the chief executive of eOne Television, said in a statement.
