Is Simon Cowell a Homewrecking Father-to-Be? TV Mogul Named in Friend's Divorce Daily Mail, TMZ, NY Post
"X Factor" producer Simon Cowell is reportedly due to become a father, after allegedly breaking up the marriage of socialite Lauren Silverman and her husband, Andrew Silverman, a millionaire casino owner, reports the U.K.'s Daily Mail.
Lauren Silverman is reportedly 10 weeks into the pregnancy, and her husband, who has been described as a good friend of Cowell's, recently filed for divorce, the story says. TMZ.com reports that Cowell is listed as a co-respondent in the divorce filing, which alleges adultery.
"It's pretty shocking ... in New York claiming adultery is like a legal nuclear weapon ... if proven, the cheating party (and Simon) can be forced to take a DNA test -- something that's hard to get in New York when a couple is married and the wife gets pregnant," TMZ reports.
But Cowell's representatives have been firmly denying the story, telling the New York Post's Page Six, "Any implication or statement that my client is engaged in adultery and has allegedly broken up the marriage of Ms. Silverman is not only false but reckless."
Cowell and Lauren Silverman have reportedly been friends for five years, The Mail notes. She has regularly attended Cowell's holidays in the Caribbean, including accompanying him in January, along with her husband.
The report in The Mail cites sources saying Cowell is preparing for a legal battle over his fortune, and that he could end up paying for child maintenance.
