Lifetime has greenlighted a two-hour backdoor pilot from Nicholas Sparks Productions, reports Deadline.com. Sparks is a novelist, screenwriter and producer who has had a number of his works adapted into feature films, including "The Notebook," "Nights in Rodanthe," "Dear John" and "Message in a Bottle."

The Lifetime project is called "Deliverance Creek," and is a period piece set at the end of the Civil War, written by Melissa Carter. The main character, Belle Barlowe, is determined to protect her family’s land, but a corrupt bank prompts her to become an outlaw, the story says.

It’s the first pilot for Sparks’ TV production company, which he created in 2012 with his publishing agent Theresa Park, the story says. The company’s head of development, Elise Henderson, is on board as co-executive producer with Sparks, Park and Carter executive producing, the story reports.
