NBC Series Sinks to Ratings Low TVbytheNumbers
A tough ratings summer for the broadcast networks continued last night as an NBC series sank to its all-time low for a Tuesday night, based on Nielsen overnights for the key 18-49 demo. TVbytheNumbers.com reports that NBC still rolled to a win for prime time.
"America's Got Talent" continued to lead the way for the Peacock Network, even while losing two-tenths of a point from a week ago to a 2.2 average in 18-49, a new series low for a Tuesday installment. The two-hour program was still easily the top show of the night in broadcast prime time.
Two other broadcast nets also aired two-hour unscripted programs. ABC's "Extreme Weight Loss" ticked up two-tenths from last week to a season-high 1.3 average in the 18-49 demo, while Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" dipped one-tenth to a 1.2.
ABC's and NBC's other hour of prime time, and all of CBS's prime-time lineup, consisted of repeat programming.
For prime time overall, NBC topped its broadcast rivals with a 1.8 average in adults 18-49, ahead of Univision (1.3 average), Fox (1.2), ABC (1.0) and CBS (0.8). NBC also claimed No. 1 in total viewers with 6.7 million, topping CBS (6.3 million), Fox (3.8 million), Univision (3.5 million) and ABC (3.4 million).
