Reality Star Being Wooed for Public Office?

Some Republican operatives are reportedly hoping a popular reality TV personality can be convinced to run for the House of Representatives. The Washington Examiner reports that they are interested in getting "Duck Dynasty" star Willie Robertson to run for the seat that will be relinquished by retiring Republican Rep. Rodney Alexander of Louisiana.

Alexander is stepping down in September to work in Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal’s cabinet, and a special election will be held to fill his seat, the story says. His district includes Monroe, La., home to the game call and hunting companies headed by Robertson, the story notes.

A spokesman for the Robertson family didn’t return a request for comment, the story says.

The piece reports: "GOP officials said while there is an interest in getting Robertson to run, they doubted that they can get him to leave his TV and CEO perch. Others said that Washington is often too fast to reach out to celebrities because they often turn out to be poor candidates."

  1. They failed to mention that the party also doesn’t want them because they tend to be more intelligent than those in office.
