‘Rizzoli & Isles’ Halts Production Following Actor’s Death

TNT’s "Rizzoli & Isles" has stopped production as its producers evaluate the show’s options following the sudden death of actor Lee Thompson Young, reports Nellie Andreeva at Deadline.com.

As previously reported, Young, 29, took his own life, reportedly dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was found after he failed to show up for work and his landlord discovered his body when he went to check on him.

Andreeva writes, "The producers of the series, in which Thompson played star Angie Harmon’s partner on the force, are currently evaluating whether to resume production [Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013] or go on hiatus while the cast and crew cope with Young’s death and writers figure out how to write off his character."

  1. How sad. We truly never know what someone is going through, unless they open up and reach out for help. I am confident that Lee could have found a shoulder to lean on within his Rizzoli & Isles family, if he would have asked.

  2. We always hope that but for whatever reason, the person who goes through with an act like this feels otherwise. My sympathies for all families – the biological, the show & the fans.

  3. I had no idea he passed in real life. O wondered why he was died in the show so abruptly. He was a main character. He was a wonderful actor. So sad that he took his own life so young. Just goes to show you never really know what someone might be going through. Even movie stars have issues. My prayers are with his family and co stars of show.
