Lawmakers from one of the states most affected by Time Warner Cable’s blackout of CBS-owned stations and cable channels weighed in Monday on the dispute between the two companies.

Sens. Barbara Boxer (D- Calif.) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) asked the companies to end the blackout that has left Los Angeles, New York, Dallas and other markets without CBS programming, reports the Los Angeles Times.

“Millions of customers in the Los Angeles area and throughout the country have subscribed to receive the programming CBS networks create and Time Warner Cable distributes, but are unable to access it because of this standoff,” they wrote in a letter sent to CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves and TWC Chief Glenn Britt. "The status quo is unfair to the millions of your customers who are caught in the middle of your dispute, and we strongly encourage both sides to resolve it immediately."

Their letter comes after Sen. Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) last week asked the Federal Communications Commission to get involved.

Millions of viewers have missed shows such as CBS’s "Under the Dome" and the PGA Championship, the story notes. Along with CBS-owned stations, Showtime has also gone dark.
