The singer for a successful U.S. rock band was reportedly abducted and beaten over the weekend before being dumped on train tracks, TMZ.com reports.

Alex Band, the lead singer for the band the Calling, was nabbed while he was walking down a street in Lapeer, Mich. Band was reportedly in town for a music festival and was walking from his hotel to a nearby mini-mart when the incident happened around 4 a.m. Sunday.

"We’re told … during the stroll, a van pulled up alongside Alex and the people inside snatched the singer right off the street," TMZ reports.

The report adds: "Eventually, sources say, the abductors dumped the badly beaten rocker on some nearby train tracks.

After a bandmate noticed Band was missing, a search party was formed, according to the report, with Band found a short time later.

Band, 32, was robbed during the incident. He was later taken to an emergency room, where he was treated and released. His condition was unknown.

The Calling is known for its 2001 hit "Wherever You Will Go."
