Time Warner Cable is in negotiations to carry Al Jazeera America, after the network dropped Current TV following its January sale to the Qatar-based network, reports The Huffington Post.

When Time Warner dropped Current TV, it said it would keep an open mind as the new network came together. So far, Al Jazeera America has hired 850 staffers, including well-known anchors and correspondents. The channel is set to launch Aug. 20.

Al Jazeera America recently announced the hiring of ABC News veteran Kate O’Brian as network president. In addition, CNN veteran David Doss is VP of news programming and CBS News alum Marcy McGinnis is VP of news gathering, while MSNBC veteran Shannon High-Bassalik is senior VP in charge of documentaries and programs.

Longtime CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien, Fox News and MSNBC veteran David Shuster and former "Good Morning America" host Antonio Mora are among the on-screen personalities the channel has lined up.
