Author Elmore Leonard, who wrote books that inspired FX’s "Justified" and films including "Get Shorty" and "Out of Sight," was hospitalized after suffering a stroke July 29, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Leonard, 87, is recovering in a Detroit-area hospital, the story adds. The stroke wasn’t life-threatening.
His family is "optimistic" about his condition, which has been improving each day, Leonard’s research assistant Gregg Sutter told the Detroit News.
Leonard is "very much into his 46th novel," Sutter added.
