A well-known actress who earned the nickname "The Scream Queen" early in her career has a new horror project in the works for ABC Family.

Deadline.com reports that Jamie Lee Curtis, who received the nickname after appearing in "Halloween" and other horror movies, is attached to star in the new project, "The Final Girls."

Steve Miner is slated to direct and executive produce if the project goes to pilot. That would reunite the two, who worked together on "Halloween H20: 20 Years Later."

The project is reportedly on a fast track in development, although it has not yet been given a green light, the story adds.

"The Final Girls" ia a drama about a group of girls who have each had their own frightening experiences and who are brought together by an older woman played by Curtis. Her character aims to transform their experiences into something positive, the piece reports.

As we reported previously, recent appearances by Curtis opposite Mark Harmon on the CBS drama "NCIS" have polarized fans of the show, producing a ratings bump while also generating complaints about what some consider a lack of chemistry between Curtis and Harmon.
