Hannah Montana’s alter ego, Miley Cyrus, continues to grab headlines. Here’s the latest:

"Reps for both Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth confirm to People exclusively that the engagement is off between the two stars. The news marks the end of a tumultuous year in which Cyrus, 20, and Hemsworth, 23, have experienced more break-ups than bonding moments."

Then we have Cyrus’ first comments about her megahit YouTube video "Wrecking Ball." Says Entertainment Weekly: "Already garnering over 44 million views on YouTube, earning the record for most views gained in 24 hours, the Terry Richardson-directed clip begins with a close-up of Cyrus’ face as a tear rolls down her cheeks, followed by more provocative imagery of her licking a sledgehammer and swinging naked on a wrecking ball. Cyrus said in comments to a radio DJ, ‘If people can take their minds off the obvious and go into their imagination and see what the video really means, it is so vulnerable. … If you look at my eyes, I look more sad than actually my voice sounds on the record. It was a lot harder to actually do the video than it was to even record the song. It was much more of an emotional experience.’"

Cyrus adds: "Kind of anything that I do at this point it becomes such this big deal and for me. I’m just having fun, and whatever people label it as, it doesn’t really matter, I’m just having fun.”

Finally, there’s this, from Sir Elton John, courtesy of The Huffington Post: " ‘I look at Miley Cyrus and I see a meltdown waiting to happen,’ John told [the newspaper] The Australian. ‘And she’s so young! But she’s got two records in the top 20, so who is going to stop her?’

"John has seen this kind of thing before — he likened Cyrus’ behavior to that of Michael Jackson. Claiming he can ‘spot a car crash before it happens,’ John told the paper that he knew Jackson was going to die. ‘He’d been doing drugs for so long, he’d been a mess for so long — and I’ve known Michael since he was 12 or 13 — that it was never going to happen.’"
