Big winners at the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards included AMC drama series "Breaking Bad" — which is wrapping up its run next week — and the ABC comedy "Modern Family," as well as Liberace, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker.

HBO’s "Behind the Candelabra," a film about the flamboyant pianist, was the biggest winner "in terms of sheer hardware," the story notes.

The biopic "won eight trophies last week at the Creative Arts Emmys, and three more Sunday night, including best miniseries or movie, director for Steven Soderbergh and lead actor in a movie or miniseries for Michael Douglas, who played Liberace," the piece reports.

Douglas drew laughs when he addressed his co-star Matt Damon, who played Liberace’s lover in the movie.

"You really deserve half of this. So do you want the bottom or the top?” Douglas said from the stage.

Still, the Emmys ceremony had a somber tone, with five memorial moments devoted to actors who died during the past year, including "Sopranos" star James Gandolfini.

"Sopranos" co-star Edie Falco remembered Gandolfini with tears streaming down her face, saying, "He had tremendous warmth and heart.”

AMC’s "Breaking Bad" won for outstanding drama series, while "Modern Family" won outstanding comedy series.

For "Breaking Bad," it was the show’s first win in the top category, although it has been racking up acting trophies and other Emmy honors since 2008 — including three consecutive wins, from 2008-2010, for Bryan Cranston as outstanding lead actor in a drama.

In this year’s awards, "Breaking Bad’s" Anna Gunn also won, for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series.

ABC’s "Modern Family" has been one of the most honored programs in recent Emmys ceremonies, including winning outstanding comedy series for now four consecutive years.
