Summer Hit Doing Big Business Internationally

The most-watched series of this summer in the United States is also racking up big numbers in the international marketplace.

CBS’s "Under the Dome" is set to air its season-one finale Monday, Sept. 16, and has been picked up by the network for a second season in summer 2014. The network reports that the show is averaging 14.85 million viewers with a 3.9 rating and 11 share in adults 18-49, based on Nielsen figures.

Nielsen estimates that 53.4 million viewers have watched all or part of the series domestically during the summer.

"Dome" will be widely distributed by CBS Studios International, with more than 200 territories on board, the network reports. In countries where it has already premiered, a number of highlights have been noted.

Among them, according to a network announcement:

"In Canada, ‘Under the Dome,’ on Global, has been the #1 series on Canadian television since its debut."

"In the United Kingdom, ‘Under the Dome’ has been the #1 series on Channel 5 since its debut."

"In Australia, ‘Under the Dome’ is the highest-rated U.S. drama this year on Network Ten across key demos, total persons and persons 25-54."

"In Spain, ‘Under the Dome’ had the best international series premiere in Antena3 channel history and the best international series debut on Spanish free TV in three years."
