FCC Receives a Batch of Miley Cyrus-Related Complaints: ‘Slutty,’ ‘Devil’ Tongue and ‘Made Me Want to Puke’ Are Just a Few Examples; But There’s One Problem

There’s one main problem with the complaints submitted to the Federal Communications Commission about Miley Cyrus’ controversial MTV Video Music Awards performance, according to the Smoking Gun.

The website reports that the panel received more than 150 complaints about the sexually charged appearance by the former "Hannah Montana" star. Some of the complaints requested that the FCC either fine or penalize Cyrus, singer Robin Thicke — who performed with Cyrus — and MTV.

But the website says there’s one problem with the requests: The FCC can only sanction indecency on broadcast networks, not on cable channels such as MTV.

"So the complaints sent to the agency by outraged, scarred, and offended Americans must, statutorily, fall on deaf ears," the Smoking Gun notes.

The complaints, which the website says it received in response to a Freedom of Information Act request, include one from a woman who wrote that her 10-year-old girl "was compelled to bury her head under the covers."

Another complaint says the incident was "Much worse than that disaster at the super bowl [sic] with one of the jackson girls." Others suggested that Cyrus needs to be sent to a convent or should be "fined and jailed."

Among the other highlights posted by the website:

— Cyrus accused of “licking the butt of a stuff bear.”

— “Humped him like a bitch in heat.”

— Cyrus was “acting like a devil flicking that tongue as deamons do.”

— Cyrus’s grinding caused Thicke “to have a slight erection which can be easily noticed through his pants.”

— “The scars on our childrens minds cannot be easily erased.”

— Dressed like a “whore,” Cyrus “put her face in a fake butt.”

— Cyrus “groped a woman’s posterior—without hesitation.”

— “My daughter was even surprised of Slutty Cyrus.”

— Singer was guilty of “indicating oral sex, dog sex, etc.”

— “Just disgusting and almost made me want to puke.”

— Woman’s 10-year-old niece’s “excitement quickly turned into shock.”

— “Dry humping, which they call twerking apparently.”

  1. A much as I loath to appear to be defending Miley Cyrus, what part of living in a free (or so we’re told) society, don’t you understand?
Not the part that says Miley Cyrus is free to perform how she wishes.
I mean the part that says you are free to (and responsible for) 1) selecting another channel or 2) turning off your TV, if you find anything you see to be offensive. (And these days, pretty much anything is bound to offend someone, somewhere.)
What I find most ironic is that the majority of those good people who were so offended by Mz. Cyrus’ performance, most likely also compose the majority of those good people who complain the most about our government intruding in our private affairs.
And what could be more private than watching TV in our homes?
