Fox is developing a drama project focused on terrorism. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the network picked up a script for the character-based thriller "Far From the Tree."

"From ‘Switched at Birth’ executive producer Becky Hartman Edwards and ‘Gangster Squad’s’ Ruben Fleischer, the drama will center on the family members whose lives are turned upside down when their eldest son is involved in a large-scale eco-terrorist attack," the story reports. "The show centers on the parents and siblings of the eco-terrorist as they deal with the FBI, media and community at large, all while unraveling the complex mystery as to how and why one of their own became so radicalized."

Hartman Edwards, whose credits include "Parenthood," "Larry Sanders" and "Sex and the City," will write the script and will executive produce along with Fleischer for 20th Century Fox TV, the piece notes.

"For Fleischer, this marks the ‘Gangster Squad’ director’s second sale this development season," THR adds. "He’s also teaming with ‘How to Make It in America’ creator Ian Edelman for Fox comedy ‘F.O.M.O. (Fear of Missing Out).’ Repped by UTA and Sloane Offer, Fleischer is currently producing the feature ‘Two Night Stand.’ His credits also include directing ‘Zombieland’ and ’30 Minutes or Less.’"
