HBO is moving forward with a project from Jerry Weintraub, described as a dark comedy about a geopolitical crisis. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the pay-cable channel gave a pilot order to "The Bring," from Weintraub, Jay Roach and "Weeds" executive producer Roberto Benabib.

The project focuses on how the crisis affects three different men: the U.S. Secretary of State, a foreign service officer and a Navy fighter pilot.

Benabib and his brother, Kim Benabib, will write the script. Roach, who is under a two-year overall deal at HBO, recently directed and executive produced the TV movies "Game Change" and "Recount."

Weintraub, the former chairman and CEO of United Artists, is known for producing a string of hit films, including "Nashville," "Diner" and "The Karate Kid," along with the remake of "Ocean’s Eleven" and its sequels.
