Katie Couric, 56, has become engaged to financier John Molner, 50, USA Today reports. Molner is head of mergers and acquisitions at Brown Brothers Harriman.

The talk show host lost her husband Jay Monahan to colon cancer in 1998.

Molner asked Couric to marry him by proposing with a "spectacular diamond ring at sunset on the beach in East Hampton, N.Y.," People magazine notes.
