NBC Buys Comedies Deadline
NBC has bought two comedy projects that are part of a trend this year, Deadline.com reports. The two autobiographical projects are from "Enlisted" co-executive producer Sanjay Shah and "Legit" co-executive producer Chris Case.
"The networks love auto/semi-autobiographical comedies and are stocking up on half-hours based on personal experiences this year," Nellie Andreeva writes in the Deadline piece.
"Shah’s single-camera comedy, from Universal TV, follows two very different brothers and their immigrant parents all trying to run a fast-food franchise together in a sketchy Sacramento neighborhood," the story reports. Shah's own family runs a Burger King.
"Maybe It's Me," from Case, is a multicamera project based on his life dealing with three strong women: his girlfriend, his ex-wife and his "work wife," the story says. The project is from 20th Century Fox TV.
“I realized that if most of the women in my life are upset with me most of the time, maybe it’s me,” Case said.
