New Fox Drama Project Sounds a Lot Like the Amanda Knox Story Deadline
A new project in development at Fox is reminiscent of the story of "Foxy Knoxy" -- U.S. student Amanda Knox, who became embroiled in a murder case while studying in Italy. Deadline.com reports that Fox ordered the project, "Guilt," from former ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson.
The project is billed as a fictional piece and focuses on an American girl who is studying abroad when her Irish roommate is murdered, leaving her as the prime suspect, the story says. The article describes the show as "a sexy, soapy, twisted thriller."
"The series will explore the different levels of guilt of everyone in this mystery -- from the suspect, to the police, to the prosecution, to the defense team, to the tabloids, to the victim’s family," the Deadline report notes. "American Knox was studying in Italy when she was arrested and then tried for the gruesome murder of her English roommate."
"Guilt" is from Lionsgate TV and McPherson's Wonder Monkey. McPherson will executive produce, along with Nichole Millard and Kathryn Price.
McPherson has done a lot of business in his first season as a producer, with three comedies at Fox and one at CBS in addition to the new drama project, the story notes.
