Fox has given a put pilot commitment to a new drama project set in Hawaii, Deadline.com reports. The show takes place in 1957, two years before the islands, known then as the Territory of Hawaii, became the 50th state.

Co-written by Shawn Ryan and Davey Holmes, the project will be directed by Justin Lin of "The Fast & the Furious." The drama tracks a Hawaiian hustler who vows to get revenge on the island’s most powerful man after his brother is murdered, the story says.

Ryan and Holmes previously worked on Fox’s "The Chicago Code."
