Good News, Bad News for Cinemax Drama: One More Season, Then It’s Gone

A Cinemax drama series was renewed for one more season, but at the same time the show got word that it’s done after that. EW.com’s Inside TV reports that the pay-cable network picked up "Strike Back" for a fourth and final season.

"Cinemax/HBO, which co-produces the series with Left Bank and Sky, has ordered 10 new episodes that will premiere in 2014. Philip Winchester plays a steely British special-forces soldier and Sullivan Stapleton, who is the star of the upcoming ‘300’ sequel, is the more renegade former U.S. Delta Force commando," the piece reports. Season 3 wrapped up on Cinemax Oct. 18.

The drama is based on a 2010 Sky TV (U.K.) original that starred Andrew Lincoln of "The Walking Dead," which aired for six episodes. The original series’ short run was partly due to its stars’ leaving to take on high-profile roles, the piece notes.

That original show is now airing on Cinemax as "Strike Back: Origins." Here’s a teaser:
