Letterman to Remain in Place at Least Through 2015 THR

CBS is keeping David Letterman at his late-night post through 2015, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Live Feed.

Even though there has been speculation that Letterman may be getting ready to retire, CBS said Friday that the host's contract for his "Late Show" has been extended through 2015, the story reports. At the same time, NBC is preparing to shift its late-night schedule, with Jay Leno slated to be replaced by Jimmy Fallon after the Winter Olympics.

"Les [Moonves] and I had a lengthy discussion, and we both agreed that I needed a little more time to fully run the show into the ground," Letterman said in a statement, referring to the CBS chief executive.

Letterman's last contract renewal was in 2012, the story adds. He recently surpassed Johnny Carson as the longest-serving late-night talk show host in television history, the piece notes.
