Letterman to Remain in Place at Least Through 2015

CBS is keeping David Letterman at his late-night post through 2015, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed.

Even though there has been speculation that Letterman may be getting ready to retire, CBS said Friday that the host’s contract for his "Late Show" has been extended through 2015, the story reports. At the same time, NBC is preparing to shift its late-night schedule, with Jay Leno slated to be replaced by Jimmy Fallon after the Winter Olympics.

"Les [Moonves] and I had a lengthy discussion, and we both agreed that I needed a little more time to fully run the show into the ground," Letterman said in a statement, referring to the CBS chief executive.

Letterman’s last contract renewal was in 2012, the story adds. He recently surpassed Johnny Carson as the longest-serving late-night talk show host in television history, the piece notes.

  1. Damn, Dave you do we former WLW employees proud…finishing the job of running your show “into the ground”.
I support you in that effort. If you need any help, I’m your wing man, you need only call.

  2. If the old geezer lives that long. Retire already, Dave. Johnny Carson left when he was 65, why can’t you.
