Rihanna Helps Get Bar Owner Arrested in Crackdown on Live Sex Shows E! Online
R&B singer Rihanna played a role in getting a bar owner arrested as part of a crackdown on live sex shows, E! Online reports. The singer, who is on a world tour, reportedly posted tweets about the bar three weeks ago during a stop on the resort island of Phuket, prompting police in Thailand to raid the place.
"Kathu District Chief Veera Kerdsirimonghol told the Phuket Gazette that Warunyoo Jornmuang, owner of the Season bar on Soi Bangla, was taken into custody for 'operating an entertainment venue without a permit and for providing a lewd show,'" the story reports.
The report adds: "Authorities launched the unannounced inspection tour, which led to the bust, following some NSFW tweets by the R&B star to her more than 32 million followers in which she recounted being 'traumatized' by the X-rated acts she witnessed naked dancers performing during the ping-pong show."
Phuket Governor Maitri Inthusut reportedly told the newspaper: "We wanted to make sure we would see things as they really are and what illegal activities were going on." Plainclothes officers were reportedly dispatched for a raid on the bar.
"Jornmuang reportedly could face up to one month in jail and a $1,900 fine," the report notes.
Rihanna has been involved in aiding law enforcement in the past, E! notes.
"Just days after she left Phuket last month on her Diamonds world tour, police busted two young men for violating a Thai law prohibiting citizens from charging tourists money to take photos with endangered animals," the story reports. "Cops were tipped off after the Barbadian beauty posted an Instagram photo of her posing with a slow loris with the caption, 'Look who was talkin dirty to me!'"
