Showtime Renews Two Series LA Times
Showtime is picking up new seasons of two drama series, with both shows qualifying as hits for the pay-cable channel. The Los Angeles Times' Show Tracker reports that Showtime ordered a fourth season of "Homeland" and a second season of "Masters of Sex."
"Homeland" will return for season four in 2014, with 12 episodes. The drama is Showtime's top-rated series, drawing about 6.5 million viewers each week so far in its current third season.
"'Homeland' continues to prove its strength for Showtime. ... It has grown its audience significantly in each of its three seasons," Showtime President David Nevins said. “The critical and audience reaction to 'Masters of Sex' since its great launch has been incredibly gratifying.”
"Masters of Sex" will also return in 2014 with 12 episodes. The drama, about the sex researchers William Masters and Virginia Johnson, has been averaging 5.4 million weekly viewers in its freshman season.
