Why VH1 Shut Down the ‘Basketball Wives’ Reunion Show

VH1 pulled the plug on the reunion show for "Basketball Wives," which was supposed to be a wrap-up program for the show’s fifth season. TMZ.com reports that the show was shut down after cast member Evelyn Lozada backed out.

The program was slated to tape earlier this month, but because Lozada pulled out, the producers decided to cancel the project, the piece reports.

"According to sources, Evelyn jumped ship because she’s sick and tired of talking about her split from ex-husband Chad Johnson," the story reports. "We’re told she knew the break-up would be the biggest topic on the reunion show, so she refused to participate."

A spinoff show focused on Lozada and Johnson, "Ev and Ocho," was previously in the works but never made it to air, hitting a snag when Johnson, a veteran wide receiver in the NFL, was arrested on a domestic violence charge in August 2012 after allegedly assaulting Lozada.

VH1 didn’t return calls, TMZ notes.
