Will Next Year Be the Last in the Booth for Legendary Dodgers Broadcaster Vin Scully? THR
Vin Scully, who has been announcing Los Angeles Dodgers games for more than 60 years, is hinting that the 2014 season could be his last, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"The legendary Los Angeles Dodgers play-by-play man announced in August that he would return next season for his 65th year with the team. Now he tells KPCC radio that the 2014 campaign could be his last," the story notes.
In the radio interview, Scully said, "Right, I’m pretty well sure -- and I don’t want to go back and forth with it -- but I’m looking to next year and thinking that should be about it."
Scully, who turns 86 next month and works on a one-year contract, first announced a Dodgers game in 1950, when the team played in Brooklyn, the story says. No other broadcaster has been with the same team for the length of time that he has.
