Behind-the-Scenes Shakeup for Long-Running Series

A shakeup has taken place behind the scenes of a veteran show. Writing on Deadline.com, Nellie Andreeva reports that the animated comedy series "American Dad" is undergoing a change of leadership.

As the series prepares for its 11th season — and transitions from its long run on Fox to its new home on TBS — co-creator and co-showrunner Mike Barker has stepped down, Andreeva reports.

"I hear the change at the helm was made over concerns that the show was not running smoothly. Barker has been on ‘American Dad’ since the show’s 2005 launch except for a short-term leave last season," Andreeva writes.

Barker remains in an overall deal at 20th Century Fox TV, the studio behind the show. Fellow co-creator Matt Weitzman will serve as the sole showrunner for the time being, the piece notes.
