The “Doctor Who” 50th anniversary broadcast, “The Day of the Doctor,” set a Guinness World Record for the largest simulcast of a TV drama in history, reports the U.K.’s Telegraph.

The episode was simulcast in 94 countries, as well as in 1,500 movie theaters worldwide, including in the U.S. More than half a million tickets were sold for the 3D movie screenings, the story notes.

In the U.K., the episode was watched by 10.2 million viewers, giving the series its biggest overnight ratings since the BBC revived the show in 2005, the piece adds.

In response to receiving the award from Guinness editor-in-chief Craig Glenday at a London celebration, “Doctor Who” showrunner Steven Moffat said, “For years the Doctor has been stopping everyone else from conquering the world. Now, just to show off, he’s gone and done it himself!"

The show already is in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most successful science-fiction series, the report notes.
