Nickelodeon has renewed a comedy series, while also extending its order for the show’s current season. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the cable channel added six episodes to “Instant Mom’s” freshman season and ordered a second season.

The multicamera comedy will air 26 episodes in its first season. It stars Tia Mowry-Hardrict as a woman who gives up her partying lifestyle when she marries an older man and becomes a stepmom to his three children.

The show has helped bring year-over-year ratings improvements for Nick at Nite in the 18-49 demographic, the story says. Since debuting in September, it has drawn 1.2 million total viewers per episode, on average.

Said Russell Hicks, president of content development and production for Nickelodeon: "In just a couple months since its debut, ‘Instant Mom’ has resonated remarkably well with the Nick at Nite and NickMom audiences. We’re thrilled to witness its early success alongside ‘See Dad Run’ and families enthusiastic about Tia and an undeniably charismatic cast."
