Fictional television news anchorman Ron Burgundy, played by "Saturday Night Live" alum Will Ferrell, is joining the Canadian sports broadcaster TSN, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Burgundy will call a pro curling event for the network, the story says. He will join TSN’s Vic Rauter at an event in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Dec. 1 to provide the commentary. THR calls Rauter "the Edward R. Murrow of curling broadcasters.”

In a statement released Sunday, Burgundy is quoted as saying: "Marked by the gods of broadcasting and placed into this shimmering green sphere like a golden egg in hay, chosen like an unclean jackal by Noah himself, I accept your hallowed task and sing out with a battle cry worthy of your love and your wisdom."

"And that song is, ‘Winnipeg, get ready to paint the town Burgundy!’ Farrell’s "Anchorman" character added. The movie’s sequel, "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues," is due to hit theaters Dec. 20.
