TV Reporter to Have Brain Tumor Removed LA Times
A reporter for a Los Angeles television station has gone on medical leave to prepare for a surgical procedure. The Los Angeles Times' Show Tracker reports that KTTV reporter Julie Chang, an anchor and entertainment reporter for the station's "Good Day L.A.," is preparing to have a brain tumor removed.
Chang discovered the tumor after receiving a CT scan following a surfing incident, when a surf board hit her in the eye, the story reports, noting that Chang continued to appear on air but suffered severe headaches.
"If I hadn't moved to Southern California, I wouldn't have taken up surfing, which, in a way may have saved my life," Chang said in a message that was read by anchor Steve Edwards.
Chang added that the tumor is at the center of her brain. She said, "I will update you through my 'Good Day L.A.' family and via Twitter, so don't be a stranger. I promise I will return stronger, and who knows, perhaps smarter!"
