ABC has placed a series order for a new drama. Deadline.com reports that the network gave a straight-to-series order for 10 episodes of the space-age drama “The Astronaut Wives Club.” The show is set for a summer rollout, the story reports.

The show will join “Mistresses,” which will be in its second season, on ABC’s summer schedule, the piece notes. “The Astronaut Wives Club” is from Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire and Michael London’s Groundswell Productions.

The order comes just 10 days after the project was given a pilot order. The show will probably be marketed as a limited “event” series, the piece says.

Savage will write, marking her first TV writing gig since co-creating “Gossip Girl” with Schwartz, the story adds. The project is set in 1969 and looks at the women who stood by the male astronauts of America’s space age. The project is based on a book published last year by Lily Koppel.
