A well-known TV actress whose parents are also famous will be joined by them on her new comedy project. Deadline.com reports that Rashida Jones’ real life parents — actress Peggy Lipton and musician Quincy Jones — have been cast as her parents on the TBS comedy pilot “Tribeca."

The project also will feature Alfred Molina in a guest-starring or recurring role, while “Friends” actress Lisa Kudrow is in discussions about appearing in a cameo, the story notes.

The project is directed by “The Office” star Steve Carell, who also wrote the script with his wife, Nancy Carell. Rashida Jones will play Angie Tribeca, who works in the Los Angeles Police Department with a group of quirky but brilliant people, the story notes.

Rashida Jones is known for her role as Ann Perkins on the NBC comedy series "Parks and Recreation" and has been a part of Fox’s "Boston Public" and NBC’s "The Office," among other TV roles. She also works in feature films, with her credits including "The Social Network" and "I Love You, Man."
