Amy Poehler's New NBC Project Casts Oscar-Emmy-Tony-Grammy Winner Deadline
One of the few performers to win an Oscar, an Emmy, a Tony and a Grammy will be a co-star of Amy Poehler’s new NBC project. Deadline.com reports that Poehler's pilot “Old Soul” cast Rita Moreno to co-star opposite Natasha Lyonne.
“Old Soul” is co-created and executive produced by Poehler, Josh Bycel and Jonathan Fener. It will be directed by David Wain.
Lyonne plays a woman who has put her wild past behind her and is taking care of the elderly, with whom she feels she has more in common than with her cohorts. Moreno, 82, will play one of her clients, a “flamboyant, larger-than-life Broadway vet who has been happily married to her writing partner/husband for over 50 years,” the story notes.
Moreno became the second Puerto Rican to win an Academy Award when she received an Oscar for her supporting role in the 1961 musical "West Side Story." She also has two Emmys, for appearances on "The Muppet Show" and "The Rockford Files."
