Lifetime Gives Series Order to Thriller That Takes Place at a Time When the Human Race is Facing Extinction TVWeek

Lifetime has greenlighted a drama series that is described as a dystopian thriller. The cable channel gave a 10-episode order to "The Lottery," from Timothy J. Sexton of "Live From Baghdad" and “Children of Men.”

"The Lottery" is Lifetime's second new scripted series, after the channel ordered “Un-Real” to series earlier this month.

"The Lottery" is about a future in which women stop having children and the human race is facing extinction. When 100 embryos are fertilized, a national lottery is created to choose who the surrogates will be.

Sexton will write and executive produce, along with Dawn Olmstead of “Prison Break.” Grady Girl Productions and Warner Horizon TV are producing.
