A veteran comedic actress sparked some anxious moments on the set of NBC’s "Today" show this morning, dropping the F-bomb into a conversation about her famous foul mouth.

USA Today reports that three-time Emmy winner Elaine Stritch unleashed the four-letter word to the dismay of co-hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb.

"Stritch was on to promote her new documentary ‘Shoot Me,’ when Gifford mentioned that Stritch is well known for saying whatever comes to mind," the story reports.

Gifford said to Stritch: "You are so beloved — of course for your work, but as much for your mouth. You say whatever you want to say."

USA Today adds: "Stritch, 89, said her famous mouth is no big deal. ‘If you just say things naturally, it’s fine.’ And, as if to prove her point, she added, ‘You know, they just think in (bleep).’"

The hosts seemed a bit flustered, the report notes. "The uncensored mishap sent the co-hosts into a tizzy, as Gifford exclaimed ‘Oh, dear!’ and Kotb nervously shuffled her note cards," the piece reports. "Stritch, cool as a cucumber, replied, ‘No, I meant a serious point by that!’"

The uncensored clip was posted by The Hollywood Gossip. Here it is:

  1. She is 89. She’s earned the right to say whatever the f**k she wants.
