New Season of HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ Includes a Recast

HBO has been “curiously quiet” about the portraits of one “Game of Thrones” character, and there’s a reason for that: The character, Daario Naharis, was recast for the upcoming fourth season, reports the New York Post’s Page Six.

“This comes as unwelcome news to many fans of George R. R. Martin’s series, who’ve already had to adjust their expectations of one of the most flamboyant characters in the books,” the story notes. As described in the novels, the character has a blue-dyed beard and a gold-painted mustache, while his clothes are yellow.

“So when British actor Ed Skrein showed up looking more or less like every other character in HBO’s deadly serious, mostly-brown-clad series — if perhaps a little prettier than most — it was a disappointment,” the piece notes.

But Skrein will not be playing the character in the next season — he has been replaced by Dutch actor Michiel Huisman, the piece reports. The story says the “Nashville” actor “looks equally as drab as Skrein” in the show’s new photos.
