Will Ferrell Under Fire for Stand on Obamacare

Feb 26, 2014  •  Post A Comment

Comedian Will Ferrell is the target of backlash after becoming involved in the Obamacare debate. The "Saturday Night Live" alum came under fire for posting a photo of himself on Facebook in which he holds a cardboard sign with the hashtag #GetCovered written on it, reports Advertising Age.

The message is meant as support for Obamacare, and the White House reposted the photo to its 2.1 million followers, the story notes.

While Ferrell’s post gained more than 17,600 likes and 1,750 shares, it also received 4,000 mostly negative comments, such as “I thought he was only a fool in the movies ….”

The White House has received celebrity endorsements for Obamacare from stars including Olivia Wilde and Jennifer Hudson, the piece notes.

“Mr. Ferrell’s post comes as a deadline is looming. The last day to sign up for 2014 coverage without tax penalties is March 31, which was extended from mid-February,” the story adds.
