We were impressed when we heard that an Academy Award-winning actress had joined the cast of an NBC pilot. Now we’ve heard that a second Oscar winner has also signed up for the same pilot.

"Amy Poehler’s NBC comedy pilot ‘Old Soul’ [now] boasts two Oscar winners, and casting is barely halfway done," writes our friend Nellie Andreeva at Deadline.com.

First it had been reported that Oscar winner Rita Moreno had joined the cast.

In the latest story, Andreeva writes that Ellen Burstyn, who also has an Academy Award, "is set for a plum lead role opposite Natasha Lyonne in the single-camera pilot."

The story adds: " ‘Old Soul’ centers on a reformed wild child, Nadia (Lyonne), who has a business caring for the elderly and feels she has more in common with her colorful old clients than she does with people her age. Burstyn will play Nadia’s Aunt Eileen, an earthy lesbian with a New Age bent who has recently survived cancer."

Fred Willard will also be in the pilot, the story says.

  1. This show could be pretty interesting. I can’t wait to see how Ellen B. portrays an “earthy lesbian.”
