Citing "underperformance" by the show, A&E has pulled a series off its schedule after it aired just a single episode. Writing on the Variety website, Brian Steinberg reports that the cable channel pulled “Breaking Boston,” produced by Mark Wahlberg, after the show drew just 311,000 total viewers for its premiere episode.

The series was inspired by Wahlberg’s Oscar-nominated movie “The Fighter,” and followed female characters coming of age in Boston, the story notes. The project was ordered to series last May and debuted March 13. Steinberg notes that the show was missing from TV listings in newspapers and interactive program guides for the channel’s Thursday, March 20, lineup.

"Placement of the program on the air suggested a developing relationship between A&E and Wahlberg, who hoped the series would mirror some of the touchstones of his own youth spent in Boston," Steinberg reports. "Wahlberg also is involved in ‘Wahlburgers,’ another A&E docuseries focused on him and his brothers Donnie and Paul. A&E in February said it would pick up an additional 18 episodes of the reality show."
