CNN plans to try out several familiar faces in Piers Morgan’s time slot for a few weeks following his last show March 28, Lisa de Moraes reports on Deadline.com.

CNN Worldwide chief Jeff Zucker will test Jake Tapper, Bill Weir, Don Lemon and Michael Smerconish, the story reports.

“We will actually see Weir fill in for Morgan in the time slot first, next week, but it will be just that — he’s filling in on Morgan’s show while Morgan takes a previously scheduled vacation, and [Morgan] will return for one final week after that. Morgan and Zucker continue to talk about a future role for him at the network," de Moraes write, citing a source with knowledge of the situation.

It’s unlikely that CNN will replace Morgan with a similar format, the report adds.

“Smerconish, Tapper and Lemon will continue to do the type of programs they’re already doing at CNN. And, the list may not be complete — Zucker may try out more talent in the slot, the source said,” de Moraes writes.

Smerconish joined CNN recently, with the network announcing last month that it would add the former MSNBC contributor to its Saturday morning lineup. Lemon has been at CNN since 2006, while Tapper joined CNN in early 2013. Weir joined CNN in 2013 as its chief innovation correspondent after serving as a co-anchor on ABC’s “Nightline.”
