An Oscar nominee, Golden Globe winner and four-time Emmy winner has been cast in an upcoming NBC project. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that acclaimed actress Alfre Woodard will co-star in "State of Affairs," a drama from Katherine Heigl.

The project stars Heigl as an unconventional CIA officer who now serves as the daily briefer to the president. Woodard’s character is President Roberta Payton, who hires Heigl’s “Charlie” Whitney Tucker in the demanding role. Tucker is also her late son’s former girlfriend, the story notes.

Woodard was nominated for an Oscar in 1984 for her role in “Cross Creek.” She has also earned three Golden Globe nominations, and won in 1998 for “Miss Evers’ Boys.” She’s a four-time Emmy winner, and is known for her work on TV shows including “The Practice” and “True Blood.”

Woodard won her first Emmy in 1984 for "Hill Street Blues," followed by wins for "L.A. Law" (1987), "Miss Evers’ Boys" (1997) and "The Practice" (2003). She has a total of 17 Emmy nominations.
